About the Craft : Gamcha, also known as Gamucha, is traditionally a thin coarse cotton fabric used for towels, handwoven in almost every household of North East India. The multi-colour checks and striped fabric is vibrant and is handcrafted into jewellery and other accessories by these women artisans.
About the Artsan : Rangila Dhaga by Kalpana Das is an artisan based organisation from West Bengal that is into making contemporary products from the traditional Gamcha fabrics. The aim is to add colour to the lives of women artisans through empowerment, respect and freedom.
