About the Artisan:: Pittaramulu, a national awardee carpet weaver from Telangana has been making exquisite kalamkari dhurries since the past 40 years. A master craftsperson started with only 1 loom, now has around 10. A laborious craft, it can take upto a month to make one large sized carpets. Made with natural colors on cotton, cotton-wool blend, jute blend they will last a lifetime.
About the Craft: Interlock weaving is a technique that double-knits fabric to make a durable, soft, breathable textile. Mostly used in rugs, carpets, throws, loungewear, bedding and even everyday garments, this technique brings depth and richness to the textiles.
